Our Background

Forming in 1987, RMITV is the oldest community television organization in Australia and a founding member of the Melbourne Community Television Consortium (MCTC) that runs Melbourne’s free-to-air community station at Channel 31. RMITV is a not-for-profit independent film and television production group and community access television production facility based at RMIT University City Campus in Melbourne, Australia. RMITV is also a part of the RMIT University Student Union.

RMITV is committed to producing quality innovative and entertaining programs, whilst providing practical media experience for RMIT students and the wider community. We bring in many industry-based practitioners and alumni to mentor and train; such as employees of Network Nine, The Arts Centre and Network Ten, The Slap, and Senior News Directors at ABC. Out of the MCTC’s 40 member groups, RMITV is the largest producer of community television content.
