Fringe Review: Inexcusable
Cat Finch and Jordan Barr have been regular performers in Melbourne’s comedy scene these last few years. Inexcusable is their first joint stand-up show, now showing at Melbourne Fringe. Featuring an hour of delightfully crude and comical commentary, along with a revolving-door of exciting guest performers, Inexcusable is a show that will leave you squirming with delight.
Each comedian performs their solo set covering a diverse range of themes drawn from personal experiences and observations. Inexcusable’s lineup includes a different guest performer in each show; a mix of established names as well as up-and-coming talents. So you are in for an exciting variety of laughs on any given night.
Guest performer Urvi Majumdar, gave a very complimentary performance to the Friday show I attended. Majumdar’s tales of growing up with a unique name and being the non-favourite sibling left many audience members cackling in agreement!
While Finch and Barr differ in their voices and delivery, the consistency in Inexcusable is the sharp, honest and sometimes salacious nature of their storytelling.
From tales of first love and having a cool job, to butt sex, racist grandmothers and horse girls, Inexcusable serves an open platter of painfully-personal tales that will make you laugh out loud.
Sparing absolutely no details, Finch and Barr share all kinds of vulnerable experiences, which many us can certainly relate to. Inexcusable is not a polite, restrained dinner conversation with extended relatives, it’s the loud and shameless life-talks you have over cold jugs with your best mates.
Nothing is off the table and that’s why Inexcusable should be on your list for Fringe this year!
Inexcusable is showing until Sunday September 29th at Trades Hall as part of Melbourne Fringe Festival, more info and tickets can be found here
